About Us
I'm Essie the person behind the wheel. The four-legged one is Willow, the van we live in is called Melon and together the three of us travel the United States. Well, Canada and Mexico too when there isn't a global pandemic.
I found Willow on the side of the road at some gas station outside a podunk town in Oklahoma. It was February 2019 and I was traveling from Texas to Nebraska to visit family. I remember the car saying it was 26 degrees out and laughed at seeing icicles hanging from the stop sign. I filled up my car at this gas station and went inside to use the bathroom. When I came back out I heard some whining. I looked down and there was this adorable little pup, shivering in the cold. Of course, I bent down to pick her up. After checking with everyone who went in and out and realizing that I'd been out there quite some time, I realized someone had left her. I walked around and made sure there weren't more puppies that had escaped the box. Once confident she was the only one abandoned at the gas station I brought her with me and she's been my sidekick ever sense. Named her after Willow Rosenberg, but Willow when she was a badass psychopath Witch. Willow has both a sweet and a crazy side so her name is extremely accurate. At first we lived in a vintage 1963 Shasta Camper that I bought and restored. After some bad financial mistakes, I lost the tow vehicle I used for the camper. Realizing this was indeed a huge problem I began to formulate a plan. The coronavirus outbreak made me stationary and I used that to my advantage. I put the camper in storage and began formulating a plan to either convert a school bus into a skoolie or buy a van and make that a home. |
